Biography ☀️
Recognized by David Foster as a world-class, up-and-coming talent, Emily Schultz has injected herself into the Canadian music scene with force and grace. A FACTOR-funded artist with over 200 live performances a year, Emily’s powerful artistry, dynamic voice and honest stage presence has led her to selling out several co-headlined shows (The Great Hall, Rivoli), becoming a seasoned festival performer (Hops & Harvest Festival, Kensington Jazz Festival) and landing herself a monthly residency at Toronto Staple, The Rex Jazz & Blues Bar. Recognized for her mastery and and universality as a songwriter, Emily's long-awaited song What Do I Know earned a nomination for Song of the Year for 2023's Ontario Folk Music Awards. Emily's collaboration with Jordan Hart (Little Drummer Boy) receiving 150,000+ streams in just one month with other cowriting credits across DSPs summing up to 2million+ streams and counting. Featured on eTalk, Much Music and Breakfast TV, Emily’s raw onstage energy has been showcased at JUNOfest, Folk Music Ontario and Canadian Music Week. Emily has lent her talents many times as a powerful multi-instrumentalist and performer with Soulpepper Theatre, County Stage Company and Crowe's Theatre.
An accomplished accompanist and percussionist, Emily provides accompaniment for a range of artists globally, from Indigenous country rock singer, Shawnee Kish, to Irish indie pop legend Pa Sheehy, to neo-soul, R&B artist, Chynna Lewis and more. Her main project is under Jordan Hart, a contemporary folk artist based out of Toronto, ON. The two have been setting stages alight for over 10 years, with a dynamic and deeply personal artistic delivery that will have you dancing in your seats and drying your eyes. Coming off 7 weeks touring in Ireland and a cross-Canada headline tour in 2025, the two have a steady release schedule of new material and are set to tour to Australia for the first time in 2026.
Additionally, Emily is the co-founder of ‘Giving Tree Art Collective,’ an artist collective that has teamed up with companies like 1 Hotel, the Park Hyatt and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada to produce events, music programs and community outreach while sourcing Canadian artists for performance opportunities. She is also involved in the non-profit Honey Jam, appointed for musical direction, performance and as an ambassador at events globally for this program that gives young women performance and industry opportunities. Using all of her skills towards connection, art and community, Emily has cemented herself as a huge up-and-coming talent in the Canadian music scene to be watched not only for her artistry, but her passionate action towards giving back to community. In 2023, Emily released her long awaited debut EP 'Family Name' and followed it up with her highly-anticipated, fan-favourite, Away Away later that year. Emily's latest indie folk release, The Pines, has garnered global attention, with new music to be released in 2026.
